River Tees Multi Academy Trust works in partnership with local schools to provide education for pupils who, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons, would not otherwise receive suitable education. River Tees Multi Academy Trust provide for Middlesbrough learners who are excluded from school, or who have been identified as needing intervention to prevent exclusions. The Home and Hospital Teaching Service support young people of school age whose physical or mental health impacts on their participation at school.
Referrals must be initiated by the child or young person’s school. Each referral is considered based on the needs of the individual child or young person along with the statutory duties held by the Local Authority. A referral to River Tees Multi Academy Trust does not guarantee a place within the service and is dependent on all necessary supporting information being supplied so that appropriate placement can be discussed. Young people will initially spend time in the assessment centre, which may result in a number of different pathways being identified dependent on need.
